Green Jobs Pipeline for Women Contract Successfully Completed

The Alliance has successfully completed the Green Jobs Pipeline for Women contract between the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado and the U.S. Department of Labor Women's Bureau. The Green Jobs Pipeline for Women Project's mission was to promote the education, training and placement of women throughout Colorado into the green jobs market.

Over the last year, we distributed a monthly newsletter to over 750 recipients announcing training events, networking opportunities, career openings and green jobs resources; created and managed a coalition of 30 organizations that are committed to advancing green jobs for women; and, successfully connected hundreds of women to resources and support organizations. Through these efforts at least 10 women attended green jobs training.

While this project funding is winding down, there is still more work to be done to see that women have equal opportunities to attain good, green jobs. That is why we have been working with outside organizations to integrate aspects of the Green Jobs Pipeline Project into their own workforce pipeline efforts; including the continuation of a green jobs newsletter. When news is available, we will post it here.

What is a Green Job?

The term ‘Green Jobs’ means many things to many people. The Department of Labor Women's Bureau has defined a green job as jobs in the energy efficiency and renewables sectors - others use a broader definition, such as any job where the intention is environmentally friendly. No matter how you define a green job, this site will spark ideas about how women across Colorado can take advantage of education and employment opportunities made possible in a clean energy economy.
